For the past 15 years, members of the Burn Team have packed their sleeping bags, flip flops and sunscreen and headed to Children’s Harbor on Lake Martin in Alexander City, Alabama for Camp Conquest. Camp Conquest, or as many call it, “Burn Camp”, caters to burn survivors, aged 6 – 17 years, who have been hospitalized in the Burn Center at Children’s of Alabama.
Camp Conquest is a 5-day, 4-night camp designed to bring children together and provide a non-competitive adventure program where they can have fun, make friends, and build self confidence by conquering challenges and developing new skills. As the children share their stories and bare their scars in public, they can enjoy fun activities such as swimming, boating, tubing, canoeing, fishing, arts and crafts, basketball and volleyball. Trust, Honesty, Caring, Respect, Responsibility, Reliability, Gratitude, and Teamwork are key values that are stressed throughout camp activities and provide lasting therapeutic value.
This year the Burn Camp NEEDS OUR HELP to cover their CATERING EXPENSES and continue the remarkable work they have done.
Let’s donate and help bring as many children as possible to experience this life-changing event.
