Helping Children Heal at Camp Conquest

For over 15 years, dozens have packed their sleeping bags, flip flops and sunscreen and headed to Children’s Harbor on Lake Martin in Alexander City for Camp Conquest. Camp Conquest, or as many call it, “Burn Camp,” caters to burn survivors, aged 6 – 17 years, who have been hospitalized in the Burn Center at Children’s of Alabama.

Camp Conquest is designed to bring children together and provide a non-competitive adventure program where they can have fun, make friends, and build self confidence by conquering challenges and developing new skills. As the children share their stories and bare their scars in public, they can enjoy fun outdoor activities. Experiences enjoyed and shared provide lasting therapeutic value.
